Ambassador’s Reception

It was with great honour last week that VMG were invited by His Excellency Professor Dieng, The Ambassador of The Republic of Senegal to The United Kingdom, to the Reception celebrating Senegal Independence Day at the Langham Hotel in London. It was a great evening which was sponsored and supported by BP, which was host to Ambassador’s & Dignitaries from across the world and it is fantastic to be involved with a country that is becoming synonymous with prosperity, opportunity and growth. His Excellency opened proceedings with his speech, which talked about the close links between Senegal-UK and how much value we can all gain from an increased trading partnership with collaboration on technology, education and finance. Matthew Hewitson, President Vale Media Group, H.E. Prof Dieng, Ambassador of The Republic of Senegal to The United Kingdom, Daniel Maggs, CEO Vale Media Group. As a country, Senegal is very close to our hearts here at VMG and, between the team and I, we have probably taken over 100 flights in the last 12 months visiting this fantastic country. We have formed very close personal and business ties there and it is a country that has a very bright future in the short, medium and long term. Since its Independence back in 1959, the country is extremely proud of the fact that it is open, fair, prosperous and a democratic beacon on the Continent and will be seen in the same regard in the future. With recent offshore mineral finds, Senegal finds itself on the brink of an Oil & Gas boom which can add a huge amount of value to the economy and growth prospects, and is looking to learn from other counties in the region how best to form policy in order to maximize prospects for Senegalese people, without stifling growth. This is an area of focus for out #USWA18 Summit and we will be having a spotlight on Local Content and Policy with delegates from Cos-Petrogaz, NOCAL, GNPC (Gambia), discussing this topic. With less than 5 weeks to go until the Summit starts, the team here at VMG have all been hard at work. We have confirmed sponsorship from BHGE, Sentrak Logistics, Protection Plus to name a few. The Delegate team have been hard at work and have been securing top level delegation from the region these include:
  • Executive Director Woodfield Energy Resources Ghana
  • ANP-STP Chief Geoscientist
  • ANP-STP Chief Geologist
As position allocation is filling up fast, please contact myself or the team to secure your place at this year’s Summit and be part of a regions prosperity and growth. I’m going to leave you with a quote below: “If you want to be the best, you can’t take the path of least resistance. Every morning, you wake up, and your mind tells you it’s too early, and your body tells you you’re a little too sore, but you’ve got to look deep within yourself and know what you want and what you’re striving for.” I look forward to seeing you soon, Matt Hewitson
